Built For The Way You Actually Play
The Q-River Air comes from years of Custom Shop work with serious bass players around the world. Across those builds, the same needs kept appearing: reduced physical strain, familiar bass response, better balance, reliable setup, and useful control on stage and in the studio.
Those lessons became the foundation of the Air Series.
Making the Air lighter was one part of the design. The chambered body, thinner profile, headless layout, wood selection, pickup voicing, and preamp are developed as one connected system.
The goal is to reduce physical weight while keeping the instrument connected to a familiar vintage-inspired bass foundation.
The headless layout gives the Q-River Air a shorter overall length and a more balanced feel, while keeping the familiar 34-inch scale length and 22-fret playing range.
Once the tuning system moves to the body end, the bridge becomes a central part of the design. That is why the Air uses our integrated Q-River bridge system, built for smooth tuning, stable string support, and a clean mechanical foundation.
Every major part of the Q-River Air serves the same design goal: a lighter, shorter, and more practical bass that still feels connected to a familiar electric bass foundation.
The chambered body, headless layout, bridge system, pickup voicing, preamp, and hand-feel are developed as one connected instrument, so the Air feels balanced in the hands, useful on stage, and natural to play.
KEY FEATURES
Designed Where It Matters
Every detail of Q-River Air is shaped around the way bass players actually play - from balance and upper fret access to tone control, shielding, and stage-ready reliability.
III
Balanced Body Shape
The body contour is designed around the way bass players actually hold the instrument. The Q-River Air sits naturally against the body when seated or standing, and the right arm has a comfortable contact point on the top edge.
Together with the chambered body and headless layout, this helps the bass feel lighter, calmer, and easier to control during long playing sessions.
Built in Workshop. Ready for Stage.
CNC machining is used where structural precision matters most. The neck pocket, pickup routes, bridge position, and hardware mounting points need to be accurate, because these details affect assembly, setup range, string alignment, and long-term stability.
The areas players actually feel are finished by hand, including the neck profile, fret ends, fingerboard edges, and body bevels. These details shape how the bass feels in the hand, against the body, and during long playing sessions.
The finish is applied in multiple thin coats, with sanding between stages to control surface quality and thickness. Before shipment, each bass goes through final setup and inspection, including neck relief, string action, fret condition, electronics, hardware, and overall playability.
Glow-in-the-dark side dots help you read the neck under stage lighting, while copper-foil shielding helps the electronics stay cleaner around pedals, DI boxes, lights, and changing power conditions. The headless layout, body-end tuning, and stand-friendly headpiece also make the Air easier to carry, tune, place, and handle before the set starts.
