At Baboomin, Custom Shop instruments are built or modified according to customer-selected specifications. Because each Custom Shop order is made for a specific customer, different terms apply from standard in-stock instruments.
Please read this policy carefully before placing a Custom Shop order.

1. What Is a Custom Shop Order?

A Custom Shop order refers to any Baboomin instrument that is made, modified, finished, configured, or specially prepared according to customer-selected specifications.
This may include, but is not limited to:
  • Custom colors or finishes
  • Custom body colors
  • Custom finish textures
  • Matte, gloss, satin, or other finish options
  • Special wood selection
  • Special fingerboard material
  • Special pickups or electronics
  • Special hardware
  • Special scale length, string count, or configuration
  • Special inlays, side dots, or visual details
  • Made-to-order instruments
  • Instruments modified from standard specifications at the customer’s request
Custom Shop orders may include full custom builds as well as surface customization options for Air Series instruments, such as custom colors, custom finish textures, matte finishes, gloss finishes, satin finishes, or other customer-selected visual finish options.
Air Series instruments with customer-selected custom colors, custom finish textures, matte/gloss/satin options, or other surface customization are considered customized products under this policy.

2. Custom Order Confirmation

Before production begins, Baboomin will confirm the key specifications of the Custom Shop order with the customer.
These may include:
  • Model
  • String count
  • Scale length
  • Body wood
  • Neck wood
  • Fingerboard
  • Finish color
  • Finish texture
  • Matte, gloss, satin, or other finish option
  • Pickups
  • Electronics
  • Hardware
  • Special requests
  • Estimated production time
  • Price and payment schedule
The customer is responsible for reviewing all confirmed specifications carefully.
Once the customer confirms the order details, Baboomin will prepare the production process based on the confirmed specifications.

3. Natural Variation

Because Custom Shop instruments are made from natural materials and finished by hand, natural variation is expected.
The following are not considered defects by themselves:
  • Natural wood grain variation
  • Veneer figure variation
  • Color variation caused by wood, lighting, or screen display
  • Minor weight variation
  • Slight differences in matte, gloss, satin, or finish texture
  • Slight differences in burst, fade, or gradient finishes
  • Slight differences between reference photos, prototypes, renderings, and the final instrument
  • Small handmade differences in finishing or visual details
Baboomin will make reasonable efforts to match the confirmed direction, but exact visual duplication cannot be guaranteed.
Customer preference regarding custom color, finish texture, matte/gloss level, or natural visual variation is not considered a manufacturing defect by itself.

4. Production Timeline

Estimated production timelines are provided for reference only and do not represent guaranteed completion or delivery dates.
Because each Custom Shop instrument is built, finished, inspected, and set up individually, the actual production time may vary from order to order. Some instruments may take longer than originally expected.
Custom Shop production may be affected by:
  • Wood selection
  • Parts availability
  • Finish curing time
  • Production schedule
  • Quality control
  • Rework or remake if needed
  • Holidays
  • Shipping and customs conditions
  • Other factors outside Baboomin’s direct control
Baboomin prioritizes final quality control over rushing shipment. If additional time is needed to achieve the required quality standard, Baboomin may extend the production timeline.
Estimated production timelines are not guaranteed delivery dates unless clearly confirmed in writing by Baboomin.

5. Changes After Confirmation

After the customer confirms the specifications and production has started, changes may not be possible.
If a change is possible, it may require:
  • Additional cost
  • Additional production time
  • Revised delivery estimate
  • New written confirmation
Baboomin may refuse requested changes if production has already started, materials have been prepared, parts have been ordered, or the change may affect product quality, production schedule, or delivery.
For Air Series surface customization orders, changes to color, finish texture, matte/gloss/satin level, or other visual finish details may not be possible once the finishing process has started.

6. Deposits and Payments

Some Custom Shop orders may require a deposit, partial payment, or full payment before production begins.
The required payment amount and payment schedule will be shown on the product page, checkout page, invoice, or written order confirmation.
A deposit reserves production capacity, selected materials, configuration, finish process, or a Custom Shop slot.
Once production has started, materials have been ordered, special parts have been prepared, the finishing process has started, or the configuration has been confirmed, the deposit may become non-refundable.

7. Balance Payment

If a Custom Shop order is not paid in full at the time of order, Baboomin will notify the customer when the instrument is close to completion, ready for final inspection, or ready for shipment.
The remaining balance must be paid before shipment.
If the customer fails to complete the balance payment within the required time, Baboomin may delay shipment, release the reserved instrument, retain the deposit where applicable, or cancel the order according to the status of the case.

8. Cancellation

Custom Shop orders are generally not eligible for cancellation after production has started.
If the customer requests cancellation before production begins, Baboomin may review the case and decide whether a refund is possible.
Refunds, if approved, may be reduced by:
  • Payment processing fees
  • Currency conversion fees
  • Administrative costs
  • Material costs
  • Parts costs
  • Finish preparation costs
  • Any other non-recoverable costs already incurred
Once production has started, special materials or parts have been ordered, the finishing process has started, or production capacity has been committed, payments may become non-refundable.
For Air Series instruments with customer-selected custom colors, custom finish textures, matte/gloss/satin options, or other surface customization, cancellation may not be available once the custom finish process has started.

9. Returns and Exchanges

Because Custom Shop instruments are made or modified for a specific customer, they are generally not eligible for standard returns, exchanges, or refunds after delivery.
Custom Shop orders are not covered by the standard return policy for in-stock instruments unless otherwise stated in writing by Baboomin.
Air Series instruments with customer-selected custom colors, custom finish textures, matte/gloss/satin options, or other surface customization are considered customized products. Once production or the custom finish process has started, these instruments are generally not eligible for standard returns, exchanges, or refunds.
If the instrument arrives with a verified manufacturing defect, Baboomin will review the case under the applicable Limited Warranty Policy and determine an appropriate solution.

10. Warranty

Custom Shop instruments purchased directly through Baboomin.com are covered by Baboomin’s 2-year limited warranty for the original purchaser.
This warranty covers verified defects in materials or workmanship under normal use.
The warranty does not cover normal wear, setup changes, climate-related adjustment, misuse, unauthorized modification, third-party repair, natural material variation, customer preference regarding color or finish appearance, or other exclusions stated in Baboomin’s Limited Warranty Policy.

11. Setup, Climate, and Adjustment

A Custom Shop bass is still a wooden musical instrument and may react to transportation, temperature, humidity, string tension, and local climate.
Changes in neck relief, string action, intonation, pickup height, fret buzz, tuning stability, or setup after shipping are usually considered normal adjustment issues and are not automatically considered manufacturing defects.
Customers are responsible for regular setup and maintenance after delivery.

12. Final Inspection and Shipment

Before shipment, Baboomin will complete final inspection, setup, packaging, and any required documentation.
Where available, Baboomin may provide photos, videos, or inspection updates before shipment.
Shipment will only be arranged after:
  • The instrument is completed
  • Final inspection is passed
  • Required balance payment is received
  • Shipping address and contact information are confirmed
  • Shipping, duties, taxes, or import-related arrangements are confirmed where needed

13. Customer Responsibility

The customer is responsible for:
  • Reviewing all specifications before confirmation
  • Confirming custom colors, finish textures, matte/gloss/satin options, or other visual finish details before production
  • Providing accurate contact and shipping information
  • Completing payments on time
  • Responding to confirmation requests in a timely manner
  • Understanding that natural materials and handmade finishes may vary
  • Maintaining the instrument properly after delivery
Delays caused by late customer responses, incomplete information, unpaid balance, or configuration changes may affect the final production and shipping timeline.

14. Non-Baboomin.com Orders

This Custom Shop Policy applies to Custom Shop orders placed through Baboomin.com.
For Custom Shop orders, reservations, or special arrangements made through dealers, distributors, retailers, or other third-party channels, customers should contact the original purchase channel for applicable terms, after-sales service, warranty handling, returns, exchanges, and local service.

15. Mandatory Consumer Rights

This policy does not limit any mandatory consumer rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
