Excellent touring bass. I’d been hunting for a truly lightweight instrument because keeping a 4kg bass on my shoulder for long sets is tough, but I didn’t want to sacrifice tone. I love vintage-style sounds (finger and slap), especially classic J-bass character, and most headless basses I tried — including an EHB1000 I bought for its 3.3kg weight — sounded too dry and direct, like the typical “headless tone” that pedals couldn’t really turn into a real J-bass. My Baboomin Q-River around 3.2kg finally nails it: compact headless design, stable tuning, a comfortable J-style modern C neck, and a warm, punchy, vintage voice that actually sits in the mix like a good old J. If you want a sub-8lb headless that plays easily and still sounds properly vintage, this one is an easy recommendation.
